Description

Black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) is a hardwood with a yellowish-brown to brown color and a more pronounced structure. The heartwood is darker, the sapwood is light. The pattern is quite pronounced with noticeable pores and the typical texture of hardwoods.

Black locust is one of the very strong and durable woods with good wear resistance. When processing, it is advisable to use sharp tools, especially when turning, milling or shaping smaller parts. Locust wood glues and sands well and a very smooth surface can be achieved. After treatment with oil, wax or varnish, the wood pattern is emphasized and the color acquires a richer shade.

Locust wood is particularly suitable for the production of knife handles and handles, turned products, small tools, wooden jewelry, decorative items and smaller home accessories. Thanks to its strength and durability, it is also suitable for products that are more stressed during use.
