Black locust
Black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) is a deciduous tree native to the central and eastern United States. The wood is hard with a distinctive grain and a yellow-brown to honey-brown hue. The heartwood is darker, while the sapwood is light. The grain is predominantly straight, with visible pores and a texture typical of hardwoods.
Acacia wood is known for its strength and good natural resistance to moisture and mechanical stress. It requires sharp tools for machining but allows for a very high-quality finish. It sands well, and when treated with oil or wax, the wood grain is accentuated.
In this category, you will find acacia wood suitable primarily for smaller projects—turned items, knife handles, wooden jewelry, small home accessories, and other craft or artistic works where the emphasis is on strength, durability, and a more pronounced wood grain.
