Guaiac
Guaiac (Guaiacum officinale, G. sanctum)
Guaiac, also known as Lignum vitae, is one of the hardest and most durable woods in the world. It stands out for its extraordinary density, hardness and exceptional durability. The wood has a deep brown to olive green color, a fine texture and a naturally oily surface. After processing, it acquires a beautiful, rich shine. Thanks to the high content of natural oils and resins, Guaiac is dimensionally stable. In the past, it was used for the production of highly stressed mechanical parts of machines. Today, it is popular mainly among craftsmen, artists and manufacturers of small decorative items, who appreciate its beauty and extraordinary properties. It is great for turned products, knife handles, pendants or wooden jewelry.
