Description
Tulipwood, also known as Bahia rosewood, is a rare and highly decorative tropical red wood native to South America. It belongs to the Dalbergia genus, as do other well-known rosewoods, and is prized primarily for its distinctive grain and rich colors, ranging from soft pink to golden tones to purple-red streaks. Due to the small size of the trees, which often have multiple trunks, the wood is only available in limited sizes.
Properties and uses
Due to its hardness, density, and distinctive appearance, tulipwood is used in the manufacture of decorative items, wooden jewelry, turned products, inlays, and luxury knife handles.
Safety instructions
Tropical woods can be toxic or cause various allergies. During processing, fine wood dust is also generated, which can cause a number of other health problems. Therefore, it is recommended to use respirators and other protective equipment when working with wood.
Other wood materials
You can find other wood for your projects in the Tropical wood or Other wood category.
